Michelle Durner Receives Healthcare Management Award

Press Release: Michelle Durner receives the J. Dennis Mock Award   Applied Medical Systems is proud to announce our very own president, Michelle L. Durner, CHBME, received the J. Dennis Mock Award at the Healthcare Billing and Management Association (HBMA) Fall Annual Conference this past September in Las Vegas, NV.

Healthcare Management Distinction

The J. Dennis Mock Award is one of the highest honors bestowed on a member by the HBMA.  It recognizes outstanding dedication to the purposes and goals of the association and is awarded to a person who consistently influences its members through their actions.  Nominees for this award invest countless hours of time and exceed the expectations of HMBA in executing their responsibilities.   Michelle, who holds Bachelor of Science Degrees in both Accounting and Finance from UNC Charlotte, has worked in the healthcare industry and directly managed Applied Medical Systems’ Full Practice Management consultant services for providers and hospitals since 1999.  She is experienced in all aspects of financial analysis for the healthcare industry and provides analysis to many clients.  In addition to her various roles for Applied Medical Systems, including her service on our compliance committee, she is also the CFO of our sister company, Fast Chart, Inc.   Michelle is the Vice Chair of the Education Committee for the HBMA, and has devoted herself over the past year to the design, development and delivery of the past two HBMA educational conferences.  During this time, she’s focused her efforts on selecting effective presenters and topics that undoubtedly had a direct impact on HBMA members.  The HBMA considers her to be a vital force that’s motivated other members on the committee and helped keep everything moving smoothly.  For her non-stop dedication, ability to successfully manage multiple events at once and selfless service to HBMA, Michelle was honored with this very special J. Dennis Mock Award.

Educating Practice Management Professionals

The HBMA is a member-led trade association that focuses on the education of medical billing and consulting professionals, and commits itself to promoting high ethical and professional standards within the industry.  Formed in 1993, the HBMA’s mission is to advance the healthcare billing and management industry through advocacy and to provide educational information and other valuable resources to its members.  HBMA members currently manage claims for hospital-based physicians, physician practices and other providers, and represent more than 30,000 individuals and 600 companies.   The HBMA has a reputation for its long history of volunteers who devote their time, knowledge and financial resources for improving and advancing the organization.  Each year the HBMA recognizes and honors the efforts of high-level volunteer performers with various awards, which are a way to show their respect and gratitude for the efforts of these dedicated individuals.
